What came first? In-Gym or the SurfShelf?
Well, while both companies officially launched at the same time, the SurfShelf was actually invented first. In-Gym was then created to make the SurfShelf as much fun as possible.
The first fun application we are launching on our BETA site is our Entertainment Guide. The In-Gym Entertainment Guide allows you to locate and launch a wide variety of online video feeds from your favorite providers, all from one place. Finding and launching new online video entertainment mid-workout has never been so easy.
Watching hour-long TV shows online while you workout is super easy and hands-free. However, you may also like to check your favorite sports highlights or breaking news online, which would ordinarily require you to type in different website addresses (like espn.com or nytimes.com) and use your mouse to launch the videos. This would require you to either slow way down or step to the side thus pausing your workout. Well, that’s no fun, so we created www.In-Gym.com to streamline this process.
In-Gym.com has an entertainment guide that is navigated using only your arrow keys — no typing or mouse is required. It currently has seven categories (news, sports, entertainment, health & lifestyle, music videos, online TV and lots of fun stuff for teens) with each category having twelve video channels (so that’s 84 video sites total). Just use your arrow keys to choose the video site you wish to view (using the arrow keys is easy to do while exercising) and press ENTER. Your show will then launch automatically and begin playing hands-free.
So, in a way you could say, while the SurfShelf was created to make exercise fun, In-Gym was created to make it EVEN MORE FUN. And super easy of course.
Coming Soon! We are currently working on lots of new bells and whistles for the entertainment guide as well as functionality to help you track your workouts. Stay tuned for new In-Gym announcements.
